VOD is for Vision Of Division of course!
i think it's a fabulous song with a great guitar part ...
And maybe the best song of FIOE when played live ...
What is your opinion about that?

It divides you in two halves! 8-)
The solo is sick! I love the little middle eastern vibe the solo has
haha the "middle eastern" thing was one of the first things I noticed when I first heard it. love love love it. I'm Arab so I grew up with that music and it's just so cool to see my fav band emulating some non western music

VOD is probably my favourite Strokes song ever. I would seriously kill a man to get the opportunity to hear it live. Like, commit murder. NOT SRY 2 SAY. There's something about the intensity of the song, & that opening guitar part that gives me shivers...hell, the whole thing. Its beautiful. And Julian always gets so into it, which is always a plus. (Some songs he seems really bored during, like 12:51 & the older stuff, but that is never the case with VOD.)
I don't know why, but I've always thought it was beyond cool the way Julian sings and seems bored in 12:51. The video, besides the cool effects, is amazing simply because of how funny Julian looks when he sings it. VOD is good, its all good!
Well, for Julian's sake, I feel sort of bad seeing him sing 12:51 because he's said before that he doesnt enjoy singing that song live because he cant mix it up at all. He may look cool singing it, but he's crying on the inside. YES. HE IS.

Zomg VODgasm.

one part of VOD reminds me to I can't win, somewhere in the begining you can sing part of I can't win over VOD(in an instrumental part)

I get shivers each time I hear this song and would probably spazz when I hear it live. VOD and Ize of the World are my favorites from FIOE. 8-)

I love how you talk about Jules like a sensei or like a kung-fu master.

Yeah not in an obvious way, then that would be corney. Also, I want to add that when Julian and his vocals (maybe it's his voice doubled) say "Oooh" after each verse, sounds so cool, moody, and haunting.

Oh wise Jules, teach us the ways of the crane and tiger. We are but grasshoppers.

way more subtle than SOAD .. IMO

It's like there is a system-of-a-down-ish thing going on at that moment with Albert and Fab. Totally wicked!

yea. vision of division is a couple breaking up. its an answer & response kinda thing, which alternates after the chorus.

very clever thing to do.

that's smart as hell and creative as hell!

is there a term for lyrics built up like that?

so great!

has anyone noticed the lyrics on VOD are from a two-person perspective?
For example:
Sing me a song
You Could Be
Tell Me a tale
Just like me

That song is so creative!

Yep, I noticed that. One of the reasons I think the lyrics are so genius. Julian's a clever one haha.

I've noticed. :D

Oh mannn, I love this song live, look at this video I took a couple of years ago of Albert playing the solo

I totally agree with you Nat, Vision Of Division one of my favourite songs in "First Impressions Of Earth". This song is one of the greatest in live!

yep good song too , but the point is that VOD is the one which gain the most during live performances

red light is my favorite song on FIOE too, though I would say VOD is number 3 or 4. The lyrics aren't half bad either, heh?

like i said on hte, we can't forget about the drumming !! i mean, for me, along with albert's amazing solo, its the standout aspect of the song. it really helps out the solo, with the whole eastern style. how it changes from a rock beat to this (almost) otherworldy thing .. bam lovely.

not my fav. song on the album (oddly enough, my fav. song off FIOE is red light), but one of the maing highlights of the album, and great thing to see them playing live (thanks youtube).

yes , so much energy ...
it takes you straight to the guts (i could i've said "balls" but I look at my language lol , maybe in a few posts when i'll be more confident  )

agree with you, Nat.
maybe the best song of FIOE played live
the guitar solo is awesome!

I gave it five stars on my i-Tunes. LAWL. Then again, almost all the songs on FIOE do...

It definitely has one of the best guitar solos...but overall, I don't think it is the best song on FIOE. I like "Electrictyscape" the most. It just has such a vast scope and so much power...OMG.

I think "VOD" is most awesome because it shows Albert's growth as a guitarist...That is the best thing about it.
