Filter or no filter?

Posted by jayholz12 on

Do you like the more filtered singing voice of Julian from Is This It and Room On Fire, or do you prefer the less filtered singing voice of First Impressions Of Earth?

I personally like the more filtered voice. This doesn't make any sense, but to me it sounds more natural than without the filter on First Impressions Of Earth. It almost sounds like he is forcing his voice to go lower than it should on some songs. It will be interesting to see what direction they take with the fourth album.

When famine sunglasses first came in the market, they were very expensive products that only a few could afford. As research and advance manufacturing techniques were implemented as per the competition, they were also more affordable. Now almost anyone can buy foakleys. Discounted women sunglasses are available in markets. Now many companies sell discounted famine fake oakleys online. Companies also offer schemes and discounts on bulk purchase it means you can purchase two sets of sunglasses(buy it at Oakley Sunglasses Outlet online) and avail of a free third pair. Sunglasses change your look and increase famine beauty.

its not a filter .. its just the way they like set up the sound u know .. almost no bass , lots of tone / treble etc. ..it makes his voice sound really distant and almost like hearing something on the radio , sort of like their whole first album .

Yeah. I'm impressed with that:
yeah i'm a big fan of slightly distorted vocals, 'Room on Fire' is my favourite as you know somethings up with the vocals but you have to listen back to double check there is an effect on them. the vocal chain on 'Room on Fire' is Audio-Technica 4033A, Avalon pre, LA-2A as well as a series of plug-ins that were on every single vocal channel and the same on every song: three times the FilterBank - three EQs in a row, on top of each other - one fake LA-2A and one real LA-2A.
But what I'm wondering is if the distortion is there in live stuff because when I heard them his voice sounded amazingly close to the record quality. I was seriously impressed. So does that mean he is using these filters in concert as well?

Wow. That's too technical and confusing for me to understand but thanks anyway. It seems like you know a lot about it, so was Julian's voice altered at all on First Impressions Of Earth? I can't tell and I don't know where to find out.
