I am wondering if Julian's label means the stuff he will prduce on it will be more esoteric. Julian has said repeatedly that he wants to find some balance between commercial success and art.. I am wondering if his solo work will be geared more towards art rather than commercial success. Or if he will still try to appeal to the commercial side just as much here...

You think that's "over-analyzing"? lol I think you are "over-critical".
The reason I think this definition applies to Julian's label is because I think The Velvet Underground were more of a cult band.. a cult sensation. "Cult" seems to be completely counter to what Julian was going for with The Strokes.. so I would be surprised if there wasn't some significance there.
