The Strokes have returned after a four-year hiatus.
The Strokes are back, and they’re coming to Las Vegas.
The New York garage-rockers, who returned from a four-year hiatus with a handful of U.S. shows in 2010, have announced a March 12 date at the Cosmopolitan’s fourth-floor ballroom, the Chelsea. Tickets are priced $49.50 to $69.50 and go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. online at cosmopolitanlasvegas.com or by phone at 598-7778.
The Strokes released their third album, First Impressions of Earth, in January 2006 and played the Joint that March. The band’s next full-length, originally scheduled for a 2010 release, is now expected to drop sometime this year. In mid-November, frontman Julian Casablancas tweeted: “Still not going to be out for a few months-mixing, etc, but JUST finally finished it yesterday actually!?” Casablancas released a solo disc, Phrazes for the Young, in 2009.
The Strokes’ 2001 debut, Is This It, ranked No. 7 on Pitchfork’s Top 200 Albums of the 2000s list and No. 367 among Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The quintet’s best-known songs include “Last Nite,” “Hard to Explain” and “Juicebox.”
