Kings of Leon - Only By The Night

Posted by knowing you on

New album coming out on September 22nd in the UK, September 23rd in the US.

I really wasn't expecting something so soon from them. I thought Because of the Times was great so if they can better that I'll be very pleased.

1st album - really good
2nd album - extremely good
3rd album - mind blowingly good!

anyone else here at the dublin gig where the roof almost fell in? lol
YES!! I was there! Front row in front of Jared. Knocked Up was absolutely EPIC. Gutted we got no Four Kicks or Charmer cause of the frickin' RDS. What I wouldn't give to be back there now....

Anyway, yeah I must say I was a little worried when I heard they were releasing the 4th album so soon but I have faith in them. The only thing that worries me is that this might mean they will sell out as a band quicker. I sincerely hope not because they are one talented family.

Pretty cool no?

if only the strokes could be that fast
anyway, can't wait to hear the new kings of leon, i'm gonna see them in a week 8-)

Cool! I'm really looking forward to that!

i like because of the times, but not as much as the aha shake, i miss the old sound, this one is really mature and not as fun like the old one!

I know that many people heated Because of the times, but i think it's their greatest album

you are not what?

yeah, it was the best show I've seen them perform. Chris McCandless's (the guy from Into The Wild) sister was in the audience.. that's why Eddie played that song from the movie.

were you in the lawn or did you have good seats?
In the lawn. It seemed like PJ was having the time of their lives out there! Unfortunately, we missed the KOL set, so I was pleased as piss with all that happened during Keep on Rockin in the Free World. Were you there in August 2000 too?
by time I got beer I only actually got to see them play two or three songs, but I am sure they will be touring soon so if I really want to I can see them then. I was pretty excited about Free World too, but I am a big Neil Young fan as well.

No, I wasn't there. I'm actually from Ohio, but I have a brother who lives in VA so we took my dad to see PJ for a father's day present. Gooooood times.

oh gosh i cant wait... it will be like christmas morning on September 23

crappiest album? they arent a shitty little band trying to follow up another album whilst they are getting success.

they are a band who have delivered time and time again and from the tracks i have heard from this album, it will be another top class delivery.
you've heard songs from the new album already?
Yes. I will get some up sometime. I am on tour at the moment. Try 'Crawl' on YouTube.
i bet it's going to be the crappiest album! it's too soon! they just want to make more money!! and i bet they are getting a lot of pressure from their record company!
No way, Dens. When you're on a creative streak, you should go with it. I don't think they're rushing anything for their record company. They've always gone against their record company's demands. Now that's a band with balls! I love those guys. But The Strokes are right up there too. I just wish they'd get a little more competitive and get off their asses to do this 4th album. Yeah, I said it. What!

Because of the times had some good songs, on call, i especially liked arizona, i hope they don't go heavier. i thought aha shake heartbreak was so groovy and catchy, that they should have toured a bit more behind that album. I've never seen them live, but i heard they are super fun.

im just saying! it's to SOON! how you make a good album if you don't take the time, to write , to make some arrangements!
their last tour date this year it's in august 17! the album is coming in september 27!
one frikin month! they have been touring a lot to take their time and record some good tunes! that's my opinion!
and what's the hurry!!???

I disagree with this completely. If they wanted to make money they wouldn't release an album so soon. What bands do to make money is take a time to make an album, announce it long before it's release, tour extensively, then take a time until the next album. That way, the album makes as much money as possible selling and with the tour. In the past (60s and 70s), when bands imposed themselves on the industry and not vice versa, bands would often release an album every year or even more frequently. Now they don't do that because the record labels want to make as much money as they can, so the logical thing is to be a long time announcing the album, advertise the release, tour a lot, wait until the album has become as profitable as possible, and then, when people have forgotten about it, work on the next album. Very often today bands have songs but they don't release them because of the record labels. In fact, the Followils have commented on various interviews that they were feeling very creative and had been working on new stuff since before the release of Because of the times. So it's exactly the opposite, in fact, the record company would tell them to wait, until people have listened as much of Because of the times as possible, everyone interested bought the album, played on the radio, etc, all these things. And then, once people have forgotten the Kings of Leon and miss them, start with the new one. Sometimes bands have 6 or so songs which they could release and don't need to be part of an album, and I know sometimes EPs are relased but not as often as they could because they are not as profitable, less people are willing to buy the CD and go to a gig to listen so few songs. When in fact the musical aspect of music should be most important. If it were up to me, I would have the bands release their music as it came to them, and no need for tours.

I am really excited for this album.

its supposed to be more heavy like mcfearless and such

eeeeeh I just saw KOL open up for PEarl Jam last Tuesday... they're fun.
I love them, can't wait for the leak, hahaha

and their outfits... I just want to say that when they came to Argentina Jared was wearing leggings...
jajajajajaja.

yeah I agree with the other post. I don't think it will be very good, probably just a Because of the times 2 type of deal.

This is really good news!

I know that they had already started work on the fourth album before the release of BOTT, but I didn't expect one so early! I must say I didn't reach to get to so much into BOOT as with YAYM and ASH, but I do consider it a very good album and I think it allowed them to experiment, a bit like FIOE with The Strokes, only that I love FIOE. But I'm sure that this next album will be great, more raw perhaps because of the shorter time to make, less thought-out, and perhaps it will go in one direction of the ones that BOTT allowed them to.

wowza that was quick. I have to say I wasn't a fan of because of the times. I loved how their sound had matured and they were experimenting with new "things", however I thought the lyrics and the atmosphere of the album was really pretentious. I've lost a little respect for them...hopefully this record will be better.

I recall seeing them in a few years back, in those ridiculously tight jeans. Now everyone wears skinnys. They were 80s wear - popular in 1987-88. What's next - acid wash ?
