siii, tocayas ! en el topic de Message Board names, ví que te decían Laurita, y que no lo podían pronunciar y por eso quedo así, te cuento que mi prima a mi me decía "Bamba" jajaja... acaso "Laura" es tan dificil de pronunciar ? Me gusta mucho como suena pronunciado en Francés, por el MSN le he pedido a personas que lo pronuncien así como sonaria en los idiomas que ellos hablan, lo tengo en Francés, Alemán e Ingles.
5 pages and we don't know their middle names yet.

I think we can say we aren't true fans. That's horrible.
Eh. I can think of worse things. Well shame on us.

Okay so back to my original thread... because, really, I dont want to know the boys spanish names or this whole translation convo, just the boys middle names, and yes, we all know that Julian's is Fernando, but what about the other four???

That is my question, just curious... Any takers???

Well, it wasn't funny. No pensé lo que dijo fue divertido.

No, I didn't block you. I'm offline now, that's all.

i just think is funny!!
Pero no te enojes!:)
Se Feliz!
Y tu español es bueno , solo era una pequeña broma!
asi que lo Siento!
Did you just Block me from the MSN?:O

I told you, it's a name that he uses because he thinks he's being cute when he does it to me. Don't follow him just because he said something that you think is cool. Nothing could be further from doing that.

And btw, that's not why I'm annoyed with you. You said my Spanish is terrible, which just isn't true. When I took it in school about 6 years ago, I did just fine. I passed both semesters in Fall '02 and Spring '03 with Bs for Spanish. And I've maintained, if not improved upon that since my departure from my studies. I've been learning on my own with books and different mediums like videos, the news, and audio clips from sites like the BBC. I'll admit the order of the words (the grammar) is a bit screwy, but I'm still working out the kinks. I'm at an intermediate level now. But thanks for the insult all the same.

Strokes Nerd!!! don't get mad at me!!!
SORRY:(
I was Kidding!!
don't be mad:(
k nerdy.
hahahahha

Shush you.

k nerdy.

Ok then. You two and anyone else who likes my first name better may call me that. But for the other people I meet, and whom I actually speak to, if they want to call me Megan, fine; if they want to call me by a nickname, fine. It makes no difference to me. It's just a way of accommodating different people.

nvm...

ok, here's my opinion: I think there's no reason to change your name only to fit in the country you're at the moment, names are names, I'm lucky 'cause my name is known in all languages, (Laura) and I think Megan is not that hard to translate, we all can pronounce Megan, it shouldn't be translated.

She was actually quite a good teacher. But my guess is she never said the name Megan before. And damn-near all of the people that I met who speak Spanish call me Mega. Maybe they're too lazy to pronounce the N, how do I know.
You don't understand. The reason why I tell people to call me by the Spanish translation of my middle name is because my first name is impossible to correctly pronounce for most hispanohablantes. My first name is Megan, and people I talk to always call me "Mega" and it's really sort of irksome. Even my profesora couldn't get it right. So I simply ask others to call me Carlota, as an alternative.

And by the way, the dictionary translates from English to Spanish. NOT Russian to Spanish. Stop being so difficult.
are you kidding me?!
my aunt name is Megan Alejandra! she's from Spain!! so everyone calls her MEGAN!! (well Aunt Megan)
not "Mega" your teacher must really suck!
but let's stop this argument!
:)

Hm... so do you mean that (in your opinion) it's possible to translate names?

King of Sorrow

Who'd you mean, then?

I wasn't : P
I think Maniqui is saying that you don't have to translate your name when you're in a foreign country, that's all.

strokesnerd >> hmm ?
Exactly!!
you don't need to change your name at all!!?

i mean what about nikolai!
what's his "spanish" name?
get your dictionary and tell me that!

Who, Fairy ?

Yes she was.

I'm pretty sure she was talking to Maniqui.

I think Maniqui is saying that you don't have to translate your name when you're in a foreign country, that's all.

strokesnerd >> hmm ?
it is true!
i study journalism in the NYU and there's not such thing as name translations!
just different pronunciations but not translations
i mean if my name is Daniel in Spain and i go to the USA im not "Dennis" im still Daniel or if my name is Jorge im not "George" in the USA
but ppl tend to translate the names !
Well, you can tell that to my dictionary. It has a chart of name translations, male and female, from English to Spanish.

it is not.

She already did.
No such thing as name translations? That's not true. My middle and last name (which I won't say) translate from English to Spanish. But my first name is sort of impossible to translate. I just tell people to call me Carlota because they have a much easier time saying that.
i was born in Spain!
and i live there like 5 years !
Dennis is for my father , Alonso for my grampa!
everybody call me Dennis in the USA and Alonso in Spain!

And there's not such thing as translate names!!
but yeah your "spanish" name is Carlotta
mi name is Dennis Alonso! kind of weird but i like it!
i have a name for spain and one for USA:P
Wait a minute. Is that your whole name in English? Or Spanish? Or is Dennis your name in English, and Alonso your name is Spanish?

People have a hard time with my name in Spanish so I tell them to call me the Spanish version of my middle name, which is Charlotte, in English; in Spanish it's Carlota.

hehehe, I have 3 names + my last name
