I never could decide if I thought you were a douchebag or not...but if you did indeed succeed in getting knowing you to stop posting on here...I for one am really happy. He's one poster who takes himself so damn seriously, who contradicts himself everyother post, and quite frankly, I don't agree with a damn thing he says. Anyone who thinks that FIOE is a shitty album, and then tries to explain why it's a shitty album, just ....you don't know what you're talking about. The only thing you could really pin on the album is its production (and albert is the one who brought in Kahne mind you). That's it. If you point to lyrics or his voice, or the music...i'll point right back to similar examples on ISI and ROF. Really, try me. All I'm saying is this-- don't blow FIOE off like its some huge debacle. It's not. Standing alone, by itself, I think it's a fantastic album. Anyone who continually compares FIOE to the first two albums needs to go take a fuckin critical theory class. Bitches at Pitchfork Media need to take that same fucking class by the way. Those people are the same sort of people that would have blown off Sgt. Peppers as shit because they were so fucking enthralled with the Beatles early stuff. It's just bullshit. If FIOE is the first album of any band, it would be applauded and treasured. But it's the Strokes third fucking album, and the media collectivley could give a shit. Don't even get me started on why that is...but people will and do whatever is shoved down their throats. If you hear enough times that FIOE isn't good, or that ISI is good, regardless of what you think, you'll be effected in some way or another.
I also think that '15 Minutes' and 'On the Other Side' are great songs...really, they're unique and the more you listen to them, the more appealing they are--my test of a good song. That is just my opinion...see how that works? everything I've said is my opinion...it's not facts or anything close...but at least it might make sense. Maybe not though. And as far as Albert goes, he is what he is....another indie blowhard. He has a lot of good songs, but nothing that stands above anything else..nothing unique...IN MY OPINION....
Anyway, I've a good drink and I got off my subject. Thanks Max Fisher...I support your cause.
