Music vid's- 4th ALBUM

Posted by Corybaby28 on

So I know this is such a stretch... but I was thinking about music video's for their 4th album. I don't like music video's very much because it kind of takes a lot away from the song.

BUT...

I thought every music video that Roman Coppola did was awesome (Every video for Is This It, and 12:51) .... and I think they should hire him for 1 or 2 video's for their new album...

Just thought he captured The Strokes style really well... and I didn't like the FIOE video's ... too much of a mainstream feel for me...

The Repitilia video was pretty awesome too ...

It's like reading a book. A book you REALLY like. Then some time later, they make a movie out of the book. BUT NOW, evertime you read the book, thereafter, you think of the strory and character as they were in THE MOVIE.

That's a good point. And that's exactly the reason why my favorite type of music video is a band playing live :)
Ya me too. Like I said, Repitilia is prolly my favorite video... But if you really look at the quality of the video's like Hard to Explain, Someday, Last Nite... they really capture The strokes vibe. The video's seem more 'artistic' then the others, and they really match the ominous vibe of the songs. At least that's how I feel..

however, i think music videos will always and forever fail at capturing a song the way just listening to it will. i'd be perfectly happy if there were no music videos for the fourth album at all.
sorry dude, I kinda bipassed that. I totally agree with this.

well... when I say mainstream, I mean 'over-produced' ...in a way.

It's 'hard to explain' really, I mean, I think music video's really take away from the music. I think the strokes are artists, and their musid is their art. I, and anyone else really, will precieve their music in a different way when they are listening to the music alone, as compared to listening to it with a music video. I think the imagery of the video (which wasn't even produced or directed by the strokes) takes away from the music.

I think video's kill the music and suck the art out of it. VIDEO KILLED THE RADIO STAR.

...But on the other hand... Roman Coppola, in my opinion, captured their music so well... that it's 'hard to explain'

Haha thanks for reading this.

lol 'a mainstream feel.' the only music videos for the strokes i've seen are 12:51, juicebox, and you only live once. juicebox was definitely pretty rad. i like, have issues with labeling things as 'mainstream.' hahaha.
