Yoko finds a band even better than the Beatles to break up?

Posted by Max Fischer on

Is Yoko Ono the angel of death?

Was she a harbinger of things to come showing up to Julian's solo debut? Does she smell the death of the Strokes like she did the death of the Beatles? lol

Seriously though.. has anyone heard of Yoko being a fan of Julian or the Strokes before? Or was her being there pretty meaningless?

I was wondering what she thought of the boys and Julian.. Julian Lennon is a big fan though, right? and didn't he work with Albert, too?

word.

That's the thing though.. the Strokes could have had the popularity that the Beatles did if the Strokes continued on the way they started with Is This It.. but I really believe the Strokes were so good they were crucified for it.

I think the Beatles would have never been able to have all those great songs in this era because society would tear them apart just like they did the Strokes.

Maybe it has to do with how everything is controlled by businesses now. When the Beatles were first getting started maybe it wasn't so controlled like it is now... OR.. maybe it's the other way around.. maybe back then it was so controlled people had no choice but to like the Beatles.. or Elvis etc.. but now everyone is trying to tear everyone else down.. so a truly great band can't survive because the businesses itself and all the media outlets will tear them down. Especially if the bands don't play ball with the media groups in control and if they don't fit into the system like the Strokes.
To me, the Strokes are WAAAAYYYYY better than the Beatles.. but to each their own.

I think if the Beatles existed today the same thing would happen to them that happened to the Strokes.. the EXACT same thing. Society is too F'ed up right now to appreciate bands like the Strokes and Beatles. It's like everything is ass backwards now..
No offense man, but about every song the beatles wrote was a hit, and they influenced so many more people and musicians, and had way bigger of a following. does that make them better musicians? not necessarily. but i just think that have way more credibility and song writing ability.

however i agree with you on the second part. Lady gaga and kanye west will all die down, but the stroeks and the beatles will live on

i grew up in a religous family so i didn't get to hear the beatles much. the phrase mating for a while always gets me laughing so i say enjoy 8-)

The strokes are great fucking band, but they're not better than the beatles. sorry.

Yes. I really don't know why macartney would change the name to Jude if the song was dedicated to Julian in the first place

My psychic powers strike again! :D

Interesting info Vulva!
Yes. It would be funny if the song's name was 'Hey Jules' :')
It started out as "Hey Jules." Paul McCartney started the song when was driving to the Lennon home to comfort Julian Lennon when his parents were divorcing.

McCartney: "I started with the idea 'Hey Jules'--which was Julian--'don't make it bad, take a sad song and make it better. Hey, try and deal with this terrible thing.' I knew it was not going to be easy for him. I always feel sorry for kids in divorce. The adults may be fine but the kids... I had the idea by the time I got there."

He later changed it to "Jude" because he always liked the character's name "Jud" in the musical OKLAHOMA.
