Posted by xxxxlaurenROCK on

Hi! Ok so for my senior quote for my high school year book this year i think it would be a realllly cool idea if i quoted lyrics from The Strokes. What lyrics do you guys think would make a good quote? I'm so excited!
OMG and guess what I almost completely forgot! I don't know a single person in my school or in my area who is a fan of the Strokes. None of my friends have heard of them (except now because I mention them all the time) but anyway I was in the computer lab last Friday actually beginning to edit my final draft of my college essay. i turn to my left and there's a poster on the filing cabinet. It says "sometimes i feel like the world is falling asleep. how do you wake someone up from inside a dream? --Julian Casablancas" with a real kick ass design. It must have been a graphic design student and my school from a previous year. How fate has teased me that we never met! Ugh.
Same here! whenever I meet someone that MIGHT have listened to them ONCE I get really excited LOL, I'm like a freak down here, it's nice though because if they were super popular here it wouldn't be as special for me as it actually is :)

Be original. Write your own quotes. But if were to pick a strokes quote, it'd definitely be "I hate them all".

Do a quote from In Transit. Those are the best, especially because only a rare few will catch your reference. There is a different thread with the best In Transit quotes. Or you could just watch it. It's always nice to go back to every so often.

completely agree*

i love "we wont get the chance to do this over."
and "the sky is not the limit and you're never gonna guess what is." (totally agree m shea)
alsooo i found some sick julian quotes too:
"if it doesn't start with you, it dies with you."
"desire is individual, happiness is common."
"with a hundred ways to do a dozen things, why not try it all?
"who you are vs. who you wish you were: who wins?"
ah there's just so many to choose from
call me banal if u must i'm just sooo indecisive
AND i completely be its so hard being the only strokes fan in my grade, or atleast that i know of, but then again i guess its better than if everyone treated them as the latest trendy band..
thank u guys so much!

I wrote my college admissions essay/personal statement about this message board community and our fandom of the strokes though.

And now you can't understand why that college rejected you. (joke.)
Haha I considered posting it...but I dunno. Maybe I will. Hahaha hopefully I won't get rejected. I'll let you all know when I find out in January or so. If I get rejected I'll devote my life to working as a manager of this site, keeping all the spam away.

I dunno, maybe it's me, but a yearbook quote is something personal. So, why would ask people to suggest one for you?

How fucking banal.

iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii remember when you came...youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu taught me how to sing
noooooooooooooow it seems so far away
you! taught me how to sing...

That's too fuckin cool! I wouln't probably believe right away if I randomly saw some Julian's quote on my high school. Most people there don't know what indie means, so you can an idea of how likely would it be to happen...

Ah! I was going to use strokes lyrics for my senior quote this year, but they're not printing them in the yearbook this year. stupid. i was thinking about "the sky is not the limit and you're never gonna guess what is." But actually Phrazes for the young inspired me and I changed my mind and was gonna do Oscar Wilde: "the old believe everything; the middle-aged suspect everything; the young know everything."

Jules said that. It was on NME's Julian Casablancas' 30 Best Quotes. Link: http://www.nme.com/photos/julian-casablancas-30-best-quotes/148196/1/1

"The sky's not the limit and you're never gonna guess what is."

or

"Two can be complete without the rest of the world."

or

this one works best if you're a girl:
"Modern girls always get their way..."

or

"We won't get the chance to do this over."

or

"You don't have to tell no one, 'cuz no one wants to know."

"take a shiiiiiiiiit, it was fiiiiiiiiiiiine...

"take a shit and a nap and you're there"

"last night, she said oh baby dont feel so down"

HAHAHHAHAHAHHA. lets be friends.

"I've got nothing to say."

"I want to be forgotten"
