I AGREE 100 percent!
:D

LOL. This entire time, I thought the line there was "YOU SHOULD BE A SECRET LIFE GUARD SING ROADS OR HIGHWAYS", thus I stated my disliking for said misheard lyric.

Thanks for the lyrics.

i actually agree! the more i heard the more i like!
and the lyrics :
We might be here for a late night
Stuck in a lava flow of brakelights
I can hear a rattling bass drum
Driving back to where it came from

Sit back on
I shop therefore I am the cause
Protect me from what I was

Getting the hang of it, getting the hang of it
Getting the hang of it, getting the hang of it
Getting the hang of it, getting the hang of it
Getting the hang of it, getting the hang of it
Timing is everything, timing is everything
Timing is everything, timing is everything
Timing is everything, timing is everything

I'm at your feet where critters meet?
We'll sho me a super night crossing roads or highways
In the afterlife of supercities, gravity devours ... right beneath

No bad time for kids who hate sports
Mothers crying at the airport
Finding the dreams you left behind to do

Sit back on
You're finding it out together,...
We were born waiting alive
Grabbing the future by the eyes

Getting the hang of it, getting the hang of it
Timing is everything, timing is everything
Getting the hang of it, timing is everything
Getting the hang of it, timing is everything
Timing the hang of it, getting is everything
Getting the time of it, everything hangs on this
Hanging the getting of, timing the getting of

Like bodies we die like rivers we dry
We fuel and recharge the ...
My .. myself, ... homeward bound
Where did you go, you were my ride home
Is that what we want?
Is everything shot?
Is that what you ask for?
'Cause that's what we got

Life is destined
Life is destined

is a good tune, but not single material.

Hi Mary. Yeah, that quote is from a recent magazine interview. I was blown away when I read that because Julian said he was interested in inventing things.. I am an inventor myself.. and I have always felt a weird connection to julian. Really bizarre.

Max
I really like your quote. That's the first time I noticed it. Did you change it? It's from a recent interview, right?

Scratch that. I just don't really like the part about how one "should be a secret lifeguard". Everything else is fine.

I'm a little disappointed in the lyrics for River of Brakelights. They just seem rather bland, and a bit boring, in my opinion. But the music is good. I enjoy the music very much. There are a lot of decent twists and turns.

Its not AS good as 11th Dimension, but its alright

the stuff on the previews and that are better i think :)

It's pretty good. I have to admit listening to Jules meddling with electronica makes me yearn for his old guitar/twangy sound.

Well said klaxi!

I am a huge fan of Bjork myself.. so Julian's stuff seems very mild/tame in comparison to her. I think Bjork will probably want to bang the hell out of Jules when she hears this album. It's right up her alley... but I think Julian is even more talented though, IMO.

He did say that this record was a chance for him to experiment with every little idea - incubate it, see what comes of it. On a cursory listen, it's very inoffensive and, I must say, most music offends me...just the formulaic shit-ness of it. This song has amazing sounds and a cool vibe, and i'm definitely a fan of the layered vocal sound that he's trying with these two songs we've heard so far. And i'm really enjoying how it builds to the long notes he sings towards the end...it's fucking epic!

I get the feeling he's made a genuine record here, as in, once we get to listen to the (very few) songs that he's decided to put on the album we'll hear context and want to listen to it from start to finish. Thankfully, I'm from Australia so I'll get to hear it before most of you poor suckers! 8-)

well It took me a few listens to get the hang of it! haha..and I actually like it..IDK..its a weird tune.and It sounds so much different from 11th dimension.I really hope he did save the best for the album and ofcorse for the Strokes 4th!

well i didn't thought that 11th dimension was bad, but i really liked a lot more this song. i also hope that he saved the best for the strokes 4th album or for the rest of his album. :|

whoa. definitely better than 11th dimension! i like it. but im afraid my attraction to this song is because 11th dimension really lowered my standards.

Its ok , not brilliant . Jules seems to have lost his songwriting skills to me. the bit where he sings the exact same melody as the guitar is lazy. plus the chorous seems to drag alot. just hope he has saved his best tunes for the strokes.
